Hazel Allan previously worked with underprivileged children to tackle the problem of low literacy levels. She has also worked with children on the verge of exclusion from secondary school, and has a keen interest in literacy issues.

Hazel is a confident and natural storyteller, and uses storytelling as a way to engage children, and to stimulate interest in reading and books.

She lives in Edinburgh with her young son.
